The problem with constantly putting on a false front is that the relationships we make while wearing it are inevitably inauthentic. People interact with your alter ego instead of the real you. Mad Men’s Don Draper is a perfect example of this. He tries to keep up a front of cool control and invulnerability in his relationships. His associate Harry Crane remarks, “Draper? Who knows anything about that guy? No one’s ever lifted that rock. He could be Batman for all we know.” The problem is not only that nobody knows Don, but that in pretending to be someone else (quite literally here) he doesn’t know himself either. He wants to change, but his real self and his false persona are so disconnected he doesn’t know how.
"The ash is so fine that it drifts for miles and miles, and it is small enough where -- you can see it when you look but you can’t see it as you’re breathing it in," Utigard said. "There are many many irritants contained in that ash...That’s why we tell people that if you can avoid going outside at all, stay inside."
Overall: Reusable masks cost more, but at least you can pick the “look” you want. The mask I used ( Respro City Mask ) has a charcoal filter that is ideal for “regular” days in China. By this, I mean days with an API of “Good” to “Unhealthy” (0-200 API). I wore it in Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi’an and never once experienced an irritation or allergy attack. As a new dad, I am so glad that there’s Cambridge Mask that makes sizes small enough to fit kids’ faces.
We shared our struggles and for a brief moment retired our June Cleaver masks.
What I learned was pretty shocking. As it happens, women leave roughly 7 times as often as men after they do badly in an interview. And the numbers for two bad interviews aren’t much better. You can see the breakdown of attrition by gender below (the differences between men and women are indeed statistically significant with P < ). Also note that as much as possible, I corrected for people leaving the platform because they found a job (practicing interviewing isn’t that fun after all, so you’re probably only going to do it if you’re still looking), were just trying out the platform out of curiosity, or they didn’t like something else about their experience.
RESPRO’NSE: Great to hear that the mask is working well for you. You are right regarding testing and trying what’s the most comfortable position for you while wearing your mask. Everyone has different head shapes/types and it does take a while to adjust to hearing a mask. But as you say the benefits are there already. Please see our youtube channel ‘respromasks’ for videos on correct placement and other mask related instructional videos.
